While every other service seems to be hiking their prices (looking at you, Disney+), Starz just announced a massive discount. To celebrate the exclusive streaming release of Ballerina (From the Story of John Wick, if that wasn’t clear), new subscribers can get three months of Starz for $0.99/month or a full year’s subscription for just $11.99.
If you’ve been wanting to cut down on subscription costs while still having a solid library to watch, this is one of the best streaming deals we’ve seen this year.
Get a Full Year of Starz for $11.99 Or Your First Three Months for $0.99/Month
Unlike most other subscriptions, Starz has stuck to a single streaming plan. The one Starz subscription is ad-free, with unlimited downloads and concurrent streaming on up to four devices. This normally costs $10.99/month or $60.99/year.
Starz is actually offering two discounts right now, both for a limited time. Your first option is $0.99/month for your first three months, while your second option is paying $11.99 upfront for a full year subscription. You get around 90% off with the monthly offer and 80% off the annual plan, but the main decision is whether you want to try the service for a few months or stock up on a full year.
What’s on Starz?
Starz is best known for its original programming like Outlander and Spartacus (the latter of which is getting a new spin-off in December), but the service has slowly built up a pretty sizable library. An exclusive first-run streaming agreement with Lionsgate has led to pick-ups like the Borderlands movie, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and, most recently, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. A similar deal exists for Universal Pictures, where movies like Fast X and Five Nights at Freddy’s come to Starz after 18-month windows on Peacock and Prime Video.
Should You Wait for Black Friday?
In general, one of the best times to stock up on streaming subscriptions is the weekend of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2024, we saw massive discounts like Hulu for $0.99 and 70% off HBO Max. However, last year’s Cyber Monday deal from Starz was your first two months for $2.75 - more expensive than the current offer. Otherwise, the service was only discounted as an add-on through Hulu, which will be merged into the Disney+ library next year.
The "90% off your first three months deal" may return, but it is rare to see even this 80% discount cover a full year subscription. While we’ll likely see great deals on subscriptions like Hulu or HBO Max, this is probably the best deal on Starz we’ll see this year, as well as one of the cheapest long-term sub offers for any service, period.
